It was 5 am and i just kept thinking about this article i was gonna write.
So eager to write it.
Write what?
I have a theory, and don't get me wrong, its a very bold theory.
You see thanks to Frank Nasworthy who developed some kind of easier access skateboard, he basically started the skateboard trend, aside from Tony Hawk, Bob Burnquist and Rodney Mullen who eventually made skateboarding popular, skateboarding is getting more and more popular, year by year.
I was first introduced to skateboarding when i moved to PEI in grade 6, and over a couple of months i wanted to learn how to skateboard, but i didn't want to hurt myself, which sounds rather lame.
At one point, i wanted to accomplish that but when i hit grade 7, i realized 90 percent of 'skaters' are ass holes and clearly i didn't wanna be part of there 'cult' and i say cult cause if your not a 'skater' then chances are, you are not well liked.
Which is fine.
But i also say cult because the more you think about it they have there own little competitions, there 'Skate Parks', there shops... etc.
Just cause you can do an Ollie over a rusted poll, doesn't mean you better then me.
Just cause the only store you shop at is west 49 dose not make you better then me.
You see, most 'skaters' think there better then everyone else, cause they know how to jump over stairs, but id rather be friends with someone who actually makes an impression on me.
there is probably a billion kids skateboarding these days, doing the exact thing, wearing the exact thing as most 'skaters', chance are, you wont stand out until you do 47 Frontside Ollies.
So clearly by getting on a West 49 skateboard, your just following a trend a billion other kids are doing and chances are, your not any better then them.
So by skateboarding and being an asshole to those that don't skate, where does that get you?
Im guessing it probably wont even get you a ticket to the X-games.
So i ask myself skate or die?
Id rather die, hand in hand.
