Check it out
SA: thank you for having the time to answer my questions
thank you again. First off, i notice you guys are from Minneapolis, Minnesota and so is prince,
was it hard knowing you had to live up to that or perhaps live under his 'shadows'?
FLL: haha, nah, he used to own a venue here and we played it back in the day when we were first starting out
SA: how did you gain the lime light? cause some bands have luck on there side
and some bands end up failing and wasting all there money on ep.
FLL: hard work, dedication, commitment. we definitely have not always had the best of luck, but what goes around comes around and eventually your hard work will be rewarded
SA: do you think its hard to be in the 'post hardcore' scene
now that there a million and one bands out there in the 'post hardcore scene'?
what makes you guys unique from the rest?
FLL: We try not to get caught up in who's doing what. We do our own thing and play the music we love. If people like it, that's great, but we also realize not everyone is going to. We put everything into our music and we are a very fan friendly band. Hopefully someone can take something from our music, if so, we feel successful. The fans are what keep a band going.
SA: Whats your favorite CSI?
FLL: haha never watched honestly
SA: On some of your songs, you have the title of the song that has nothing to do with the actual song itself,
which i never understand, could please explain that to me? haha
FLL: Haha, well, we try to fit the song title into the meaning of the song. It may not always seem like they have anything to do with each other, but they do. Like Naked Girl Avalanche. That is a reference from an episode of The Simpsons, yet it can tie into the lyrics as well. But some of the titles are just for fun.
SA: If you could compare your musical styles with any musician
live or dead who would it be and why?
FLL: Haha I don't know if you could compare Four Letter Lie to anyone, maybe you could, but I would just say we are who we are. All of us definitely have different musical influences that give us a distinct musical style.
SA: How long does it take you to write a song and do you have to be in some state of mind,
or could you do it anywhere?
FLL: I definitely think you have to be in the right state of mind. A song can never be rushed, you cant force yourself to just write a song. It has to come to you. So the length of time can all depend. We have wrote them in an hour and months.
SA: is there any band that comes to mind that you would like to work with?
FLL: Beastie Boys
SA: What do you hope to gain out of your musical career?
FLL: There is always more to gain, but we have come a long ways and we will continue to work hard and make music for as long as we can. It is a blessing to be where we are today but at the same time we would like to achieve more of our goals.
SA: is there any other band you dont like?
or you think fails musically?
FLL: Nah, everyone has their own thing. To each their own.
SA: what was your band name before you had "four letter lie" and how did you
perhaps achieve or decide on that name?
FLL: This was the only band name. It was the name of a Fordirelifesake song.
SA: Whats the most embarrassing story that happened to you or your band mates on road?
FLL: Hmm...maybe getting arrested in Texas and 2 of us going to prison. Not fun.
SA: Who is four letter lie influenced by?
FLL: Life
thank you for your time again FLL
